symlinks on Windows

Do you know if it is possible to manage symlinks with windows in the gallery, it would be convenient.

I tried to create a link to a folder but gallery does not see it

With the command mklink /D C:\path\to\symlink C:\path\to\existing\folder
I can create the link and show it in the gallery. If I click on the link folder from the left menu I don't see any files on the right side.

Got a link? When using symlinks and pointing to dirs and files outside of the web server document root, you might be trying to access files that are forbidden for PHP to access.

What happens when you right-click "The image" and "Open in new tab"? What does the link look like? What is the error response when you open the link in new tab? This will help diagnose.

The structure is /
folder1
folder2

In folder1 there is the .jpg file
while under / I put the symbolic link

The interesting thing is that the preview is generated correctly.
If I open the image the TAGs contained in the file are seen, but the image is not seen.

This error is shown in console

If I click on the link error "The Image could not be loaded." It tries to load this page

What is 02_SYSTEM-789-2_1 anyway? A symlink to an image? Couldn't it at least be given an image name? Could be anything, permissions, symlink path ...

Karl 02_SYSTEM-789-2_1 is a name of file / symlinks (example file).

I noticed that if I add the exemption to the FILE type symlink, files.gallery crashes. It keeps loading the folder tree on the left indefinitely.

For this reason, I tried to create symlink files without extension.

It is not online but only locally. Doing some tests using XAMP the problem does not occur. I am using ExeOutput for PHP as an environment. I have now also requested info from ExeOutput for PHP for compatibility with symlinks.

If you want I can generate and send you the .exe files (privately) with the environment enabled with the degub if you want to do some tests or better understand the problem. For the moment, I am thinking of abandoning the use of symlinks

The reason I wanted to use them was to work around the limitation of global search which is not currently available. With symlinks + metatags I wanted to put several files in some folders containing other files in order to make local search more functional.

I hope global search will be released soon, it would be a very appreciated feature.

Unfortunately, the issues here are too system-specific for there to be any point for me to test anything.

This issue is too abstract to diagnose. If you have a specific issue with normal symlinks that can be recreated and diagnosed on a normal server, I would be interested in diagnosing. I myself have symlinks working in the menu.

Karl Found the problem. Galley had nothing to do with it as I imagined. It was a webserver configuration problem. There was a redirection problem. All ok then. Thanks anyway for checking.
