I believe it might work in some browsers if the AVI is encoded in H.264/H.265 (like mp4's), but this might be unlikely if they were encoded as AVI in the first place. Try this: Rename your video.avi
to video.mp4
and see how it works in Files Gallery and browser. This hack has been used successfully for other formats, although it's not reliable.
The only other solution, would be to convert your videos from AVI to Mp4 with FFmpeg.
