Johnny91 When unzipping a zip file with just images the system will ask you if you want it to create a folder for you.
I guess it could be an interesting option to unzip images.zip
into a created directory images
. However, it's not clear to me what you mean "with just images" ... If enabled, this feature would probably unzip to a directory, no matter what is actually inside the zip file (images, files, folders). Also, on unzip, there is already a prompt that allows you to select WHERE (what dir) to extract the zip file, which means you could technically create a target folder before extracting. Another things which is clumsy, is to create a folder for you, the folder name must not already exist and/or it must be incremented with a "-X" number.
I have mixed feelings about this, especially when there is already a prompt to choose what folder to extract the zip. I think I will wait with this feature until after initial release.
Johnny91 Upon unzipping, you can ✅ an option so that the zip file gets automatic deleted after the unzipping process is done .
This could also be an interesting option, but is it really required? Surely the user can delete the zip after it's extracted, if that's what they want? That's how it works on desktop. I'm not sure it's worth cluttering the interface for.
Johnny91 When unzip a zip file with a folder inside it and images inside the folder, the folder will be extracted including the images inside of it.
I think this is related to the first question? This is how it would already work by default. If you have a folder inside the zip, with images inside the folder, the folder will get extracted to the target, and the images will naturally remain inside the extracted folder.
In regards to question #1, I think your question really is: "Create a folder for the unzipped files, unless the zip file already contains a folder with files inside".
I think for now, this is not a reasonable option for basic unzip features. We would need to study files and folders inside the zip file, to decide upon creating a folder or not, based on various conditions. Maybe up for discussion after initial release.
Johnny91 Being able to unzip at the same time like 10 zip files with images inside of each of them, and the system will create random named folders 📁 for each.
With the coming "select" feature, it would be technically possible to select multiple zip files and extract them in one go. However, it would require that ALL selected files are ZIP. Furthermore, errors can easily happen on PHP/server on unzip, because of insufficient memory and/or timeout. Processing multiple zip files in one go doesn't seem productive, especially considering one of the reasons files are zipped in the first place.
And then, I'm not sure about "random names folders". How would users then be able to figure out what folders were created from which zip files after unzip? Would be impossible to identify, unless the folder name matches the zip file.
For now, I think the zip/unzip features will be straight-forward. Perhaps other options can be discussed after initial release. Thanks for making the request.
