JPG resize for thumbnails doesn't work

Hi,
Just tried out this software, it's pretty awesome. However, I'm having some trouble with the thumbnails.

I can disable image_resize, then Thumbnails appear . The site also seems to load images that are natively smaller than "image_resize_dimension", whatever that may be, so my conclusion is that the actual resize operation is not working.

I do have a few errors in the diagnostic - can you tell me if these would cause the resize to fail, please? I've ostensibly installed php-mod-exif, but I can't figure out why it is not getting picked up. And I don't really need video previews, so I'm less concerned with the ffmpeg error.

Anything else I could check?

I'm not 100% sure what you are referring to here. If you disable image_resize_enabled, Files Gallery will attempt to load the original image as thumbnail, instead of a resized version. That would always work, as long as the file size is <load_images_max_filesize. The problem is definitely related to resizing your images.

To properly diagnose the resize errors you are getting, open Chrome View > Developer > Developer Tools, click "network" tab > "images", and reload page. The images will show come up as red errors. Open one of the images in a new tab, and you should see a specific error. Of course, if you had a link, I could easily diagnose from here.

There are no critical issues in your diagnostics, exif and ffmpeg are optional.

Thanks for the suggestion. I did mouse over the missing thumbnails in the Developer Tools based on your same suggestion from another user's similar question - and there did not seem to be any obvious errors but I'll check again later and get back to you!
EDIT: This is the specific error:

Which is weird, since, as the diagnostic states, GD appears to be installed correctly (php -m also lists it).

flyingfishfinger Yes it's a bit strange, but having GD extension available, does not necessarily mean the image functions are available. It may seem your GD may not be installed correctly, see these posts:

Fixed my GD. Turns out that wasn't the problem, I had two instances of PHP installed and lighttpd was pointing at the wrong one. All working now!
