It is possible, although it would be a clumsy solution. For example, if you have url file myurl.url
, we could instruct Files gallery to look for myurl.jpg
and use this as preview image, if it exists. As long as the image is stored in the same dir, we can then also extract image dimensions.
One thing that is perhaps more clumsy, is that you would also need a unique design (CSS) implementation for this. Normally, when Files gallery loads an image, it will display like this (without text):
In your case, I assume you want the image, but also the text/link to display. We can't just "replace" the SVG icon used when there is no image. In this case, I would need to make a unique design for "url-links-with-preview-images", that suits all layouts, all sizes and all devices.
