Keep in mind, this original post was about hiding the cursor specifically in fullscreen.
kbkg As of 0.8.4, it hides the mouse cursor (if not over a button) alone with the UI in viewer mode when idle.
It's a common behavior of many image viewers, please consider adopting it.
Can you tell me what image viewers do this by default? I'm not personally against it, but one needs to be careful about hiding the visitors mouse cursor, especially when the benefit is minimal, and that's why none of the "big" companies like Google, Flickr, Facebook or 500px do this. If anything, I would perhaps hide the cursor on idle only when in fullscreen mode by default.
