Karl Yes and no because you will remove a possible nice feature: being able to download a zip of HD photos instead of "full-size" photos displayed in the gallery.
The idea is pretty simple: the photos displayed by the gallery are "low-res" to save network bandwidth (and also taking less resource by the script to create the thumbs).
But for the zip, instead of making a zip of those "low-res" pictures, create in advance the _files.zip containing the HD version of your photos (15 to 20Mo by file!).
If you migrate to creation of the zip in the browser, this possibility doesn't exist anymore.
